Graduates of the degree programme in medicine become experts in demanding tasks on both national and international level. The intended learning outcomes in the degree programme is to acquire a capacity for independent work, critical, science-based decision making, and the discovery of new knowledge.

The training prepares graduates to participate in scientific graduate studies, and the diverse and cross-disciplinary Faculty of Medicine offers an excellent starting point for research. The training also provides a readiness for professional graduate training. At the University of Oulu, the range of specialist doctor’s degrees include a total of 46 special fields in the medical sciences. After graduation, a very high percentage of students find employment as extensively trained experts in a variety of positions in the field of health care.
